Swazi 5K 2013

On Saturday, September 21, the 5th annual Swazi 5k was hosted by Southern Nazarene University. There were 460 registered to participate in either the 1 mile fun run/walk or the 5k run/walk. It was truly an intergenerational event that all ages enjoyed. Proceeds from this year’s Swazi 5k benefit the Swazi HIV/AIDS Task Force, Swazi Raleigh Fitkin Memorial Hospital Labor and Delivery, volunteer scholarships to join a team to Swaziland, and the Bethany Foundation After-School Program.

July 2012 GO Team

The July 2012 GO Team consisted of 40 people. The compassion team worked alongside the HIV/AIDS Task Force in visiting people dying of AIDS, they conducted a Vacation Bible School, held an education day, and fed street children.

The Gerald Gassett Memorial Dental Clinic was completed and dedicated. This is the first public dental clinic in the country.

One team provided training to Bible school students in beekeeping and life-skills.

The medical team provided health care for AIDS patients, taught healthcare professionals and provided medical care in rural Swaziland.

The March 2012 GO Team made initial steps in establishing a commercial farm to help support the School of Theology, worked on a water project, gave eye exams, provided dental work, held a Vacation Bible School, conducted pastoral and medical seminars, did construction work, and worked alongside the AIDS Task Force. Here are a few photos of their time in Swaziland.

The third annual Swazi 5K and Fun Run took place September 17, 2011. All ages participated in the activities while raising funds to benefit the Swaziland Partnership. Here are are a few photos of some of the many people who were involved.

The August 2011 GO Team worked in education, compassion, construction and medical teams. This team also helped coordinate the nation's first conference for all Nazarene pastors and spouses. The focus of the conference was to encourage, inspire, and educate the pastors as they face the crisis of HIV/AIDS in their congregations, community, and country. Here is a glimpse of their time in Swaziland.

Bethany First Church of the Nazarene has helped coordinate more than 400 individuals on GO Teams in Swaziland. Here are a few photos to help you get a feel for this small southern Africa nation and the beautiful people who live there.
